That fact was cemented as David Winkels traveled to Ponta
Delgada, Portugal in June to visit with Excalibur Sires newest
distributor. The trip also included a tour around the country to
talk with dairy producers and breeders.
The journey
started out with a group of farm visits to see first-hand what
genetic choices dairy producers have used. Winkels saw many good
herds throughout the trip and was excited to find that many of
the herds could benefit greatly by using bulls from Excalibur
Sires. “We have the right bulls for these herds so dairy farms
can make a major impact quickly,” said David Winkels.
The pinnacle
of the trip was the producer meeting where David Winkels spoke
as the keynote speaker to a large group. The dairy producers
from Portugal took great interest in Highland-H Stormin
NORMAN EX-94, Autumn-Ridge BOJANGLES-ET EX-90, Luck-E
Advantage-Red-ET and many others that Winkels discussed. The
dairy producers liked Norman for his phenomenal type proof and
his eight excellent first-crop daughters. Bojangles stood out
with the farmers by having HUGE components and TPI to match. As
a young sire Advantage’s pedigree brought great interest and
many questions.
